Thomas O. Barnes, Jr. began his career in financial services in 1999 and founded Riverside Investment Services in 2006 in order to provide his clients with a more personal touch when it comes to creating sound personal finance strategies, as well as creating and achieving long-term personal financial goals.
A native of Bristol, Tom is dedicated to his local community. He has been the elected City Treasurer of Bristol since 2011. He currently serves as the Chairman of the City of Bristol Retirement Board to direct the investment policy and allocation of the City's $600 million pension funds. Tom previously held the seat of Vice Chairman for the Bristol Hospital Investment Committee which managed the hospital's investment policy for the pension and endowment funds. He is a Member and Ex-Officer of the Central Connecticut Chambers of Commerce. Tom previously served on the Connecticut Retirement Security Board which explored options to help improve the retirement options for residents of the state of Connecticut. He has also held a seat as an Advisor for the State of Connecticut Investment Advisory Committee from 2007 to 2013. Tom has served as Board President of the Environmental Learning Centers of Connecticut as well as a member of the Bristol Rotary Club. He is a member of the Bristol Boy's and Girl's Clubs Development committee.
Tom is a graduate of Renbrook School in West Hartford CT, Brooks Scool in North Andover MA, and the University of Montana. Tom makes his home in Bristol, CT with his wife and business partner, Emily, and three daughters Lilly, Aubrey, and Ashley.
